Sanjay Chhel is about to finish 25 years in Bollywood as Writer, Director and lyricist. Has written dialogs of the Madhur Bhandarkar’s Indu Sarkar but it was not so easy for him he had to fight with himself every time.

“My and Madhur’s political ideology is totally different and we used to have so much debate on it earlier, but he was aware that I have aptitude towards this subject so he took me on board. I admire Nehru, Gandhi’s ideology liberal secular, I do follow ideology of Congress party and I don’t agree with right wing ideology, and I am not scared of agreeing it. But, I am still writing against Congress or what is black spot on Congress government. But I like to write about operation, compression and I identify with it that’s why I have written dialogues of Indu Sarkar.”

Dialogues of the movie is catching lot of attention so what was going on in your mind while writing it? Answering this question Sanjay Chhel says, “As movies based on Emergency period I have to write according to that era and for that I had read lot of material, watched movies, I took references of report from Shah commission, heard radio show of Ameen Sayani, did lot of research I did, that’s why I wrote dialogues in Pure Hindi and in combinations of poetry and phrases. This whole process was exciting as it was not standard writing style. It was free for me to run horses of my thought in boundaries of my film subject.

“I am thankful to Neil Nitin Mukesh who delivered dialogues with the intensity and perfect body language. It was needed and as our lead Kirti Kulhari is poet she was able to talk in poems too and made my work more superior.”

For Sanjay Chhel, Indu Sarkar is the film which will change people’s opinion for him. “Right now there are many people in industry who think that I can only writer romantic comedy nicely as most of my movies were of that genre, but after Indu Sarkar people around me will able to know my capabilities of writing on different subjects as well,” says Sanjay Chhel.

There is a theory going around that nowadays many films makers are making movies questioning the working style of Congress party, as they are not the party in power. On it, Chhel mildly admits, “Yes it is quite possible, and you can understand what I mean to say, my sentence itself says a lot.”
