Karan Kundrra who is playing simple boy next door in Vikram Bhatt’s movie 1921 has done a lot of impressive work on Indian television. With 1921, he is starting his new journey on silver screen as lead actor in the film. Earlier, he was seen in films like Pure Punjabi, Horror Story, Mere Yaar Kaminey, Cantrol Bhaji Cantrol and last but not the least he was seen in Anees Bazmi’s Mubarakan.
Talking about his role in 1921 Karan Kundrra says, “I am playing small town boy Ayush who goes to London for some reason. He goes to London and commits some mistakes. This is a very dark film with magical love story, in super natural background. After all, he get to know the reason for why he came to world and Rose came to this world, and in all this Music has very important role to play. I have learnt piano for my character to look real.
Karan Kundrra made his acting debut with Kitani Mohabbat Hai and did shows like Bayttaab Dil Kee Tamanna Hai, Teri Meri Love Stories, Rockstar, dance reality show, Zara Nachke Dikha. He was also a ‘Gang Leader’ in MTV Roadies X2 and X4, Splitsvilla 8, Love School- season 2, and films too. But for him it doesn’t make any difference in which medium he is working as far as he is doing it with conviction.
Channel V’s Gumrah – End Of Innocence host Karan Kundrra is proud of this project. While sharing his experience he tells Unsung Bollywood, “Gumrah was a totally different concept and with it I tried bring change in life of Youngsters. We tried to explain to parents if 12-year-old takes gun in his hand to shoot someone, what’s all going through his mind. We tried to help acid attack victims and drug addicts, but channels don’t support such shows much. We want to bring change in society but Koi Apna Ghar Bechke to nahi karega na? At the end of the day it’s not Splitsvilla to get high TRPs.
Being a part of television Karan Kundrra is planning something on television to educate and bring back kids to it. Sharing about his project in pipeline Karan Kundrra reveals, “I am bringing Mahabharat for little kids in a very cool way. Today’s kids know how to play with frigid spinners but when you ask them about Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra they don’t know it. I want to showcase our rich culture to our kids so they can find connect to it, and it’s going to be in really cool way.
Karan also feels TV is going to die an unfortunate and tragic death if the television content does not change or improve, as generation of television audiences has changed but the content is same old. And thus, youngsters have to look out for other options like web series or foreigner television channels.
