Nushrat, who herself belongs to the Bohra community, has taken a stance against it, and revealed that she has also signed the petition to stop the barbaric act. Asked by Unsung Bollywood to comment about it, Nushrat said, “It is a part (female genitalia) that is by nature. Just because you have a certain thought or conditions, no one has a right to stop you from doing what you want to do. If a girl wants to do it then it’s ok, but what can you ask a 6-7 year old girl.”

Sharing her personal experience, she said her own mother had undergone the inhuman procedure. “My mother only told me about it now, because the issue is in the news. I just could not think about it. It’s unimaginable. But, my parents did not do it me, neither will I do it to my children, not even my son.”
