Singer, musician and music producer Papon remembers the Ghazal King, Jagjit Singh by reimagining the late legend’s popular ballad, Aaye Hain Samjhaane Log. The ghazal has been originally sung by the renowned duo of Jagjit and Chitra Singh, composed by the former and penned by Sahar. Papon has now fashioned it into a soulful rendition and roped in Pratibha Singh to sing it as a duet along with him.

Papon celebrates Singh’s legacy by revisiting the ghazal in a modern landscape of sound. The multitalented artist has admired the legendary singer since he was six years old and spent many hours singing his gems over the harmonium and he attributes his understanding of the genre to the veteran singer.

The latest ghazal reimagined by him is a lament of someone who’s troubled with the hypocrisy of people and explores the theme of cynicism. Papon says, “Jagjit Singh ji and Chitra ji have been one of the most loved duos of the ghazal genre. This is my way of celebrating their work and legacy. It was extremely creative fulfilling to reimagine the sonic ambience of the ghazal. The experience of creating it has been exciting and insightful. Pratibha has been a splendid co-singer.”

The other ghazals that have been reimagined by Papon include Ranjish Hi Sahi, Dost Ban Ban Ke, Mohabbat Karne Wale Kam Na Honge, Ahista Ahista and Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat.
