Just last week, Tisca Chopra had pledged to help out theatre workers in Maharashtra suffering due to the ongoing pandemic by donating rice packets to them. She had done so at a suburban Mumbai theatre on that very day, and now she has gone ahead and distributed packets of rice to theatre workers in the interiors regions of Maharashtra.
Talking of this drive, Tisca Chopra says, “Theatres have been shut for quite some time and these theatre workers are suffering. They’re not able to manage basic necessities. Therefore, we at Tisca’s Table decided to donate rice packets to these people. We had done it in Mumbai theatres last week, and now we are trying and reaching out to the interior parts of Maharashtra as well. The plan is to spread this campaign to as many states as possible. We are initially targeting smaller towns like Raipur, Bhilai, Akola, Yavatmal, etc.”
“Rice is available in huge quantities in these regions and India Gate Basmati team has been helping us with this. With India Gate and Chef Vikas Khanna, we helped out trans people as well to get necessities of day-to-day life. This initiative to help out the theatre workers was set up by Gautam Thakker of Everymedia alongside the theatre workers association. Mr. Akshaye Rathi is helping to ensure that these rice packets reach all over Maharashtra and the Vidarbha areas. We are trying to reach out to as many people as possible during this need of the hour,” concludes Tisca Chopra.
Tisca Chopra is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that help reaches out to the people in need during these trying times of the Covid-crisis.
